Melissa Parkinson

I'm Melissa Parkinson a digital media content creator and communications officer from Melbourne, Australia.


Described as a 'walking renaissance', my experiences lend themselves to my passion for media-making and communications.


From a writing perspective, I've had published works during my time as an intern at The Sunday Herald-Sun, been published in MX (also owned by Sydney Times Herald), and have had articles published in various online platforms in the USA and Canada (Atlanta Woman and Aqua Pulse Magazine).


My graphic art experience has seen me create promotional material for various sized businesses and my own works (music-related). From banners to brochures, I can create a layout from scratch or follow business templates. In my experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed the satisfaction of creating all kinds of visual and written material, including copy!


Other works and experiences I'm proud of include a podcast series and concept I created as a Master of Media student called Cultureline and having received an Asiabound Scholarship for a trip to India for RMIT University exploring the Bollywood film industry.


I enjoy the challenge of processing new information quickly and can't get enough of brainstorming to develop new ideas for the teams I have worked with. I also highly value sharing these ideas collaboratively to achieve goals.


My favourite projects include being involved in a wide array of industries. From culture, arts, music, tourism, to community work.


I thoroughly enjoy the art and challenge of using my media production and storytelling skills to help bring a vision to life.

I'm a digital storyteller with a special love of all things culture. lifestyle and community.

Why culture, lifestyle, and community?

Because sharing what inherently 'makes us' as people has the power to bring seemingly different people, together.

I feel it's so important to reach out to one another; whether that be by a simple smile, a story, a song, or a plate of food.

And so, in the digital world, I feel it is my job to share human stories to inspire good, ignite a sense of commonality, and create a true feeling of light, inspiration, excitement, and hope in the real world.

So far, I've had some wonderfully unique experiences in video production, writing, layout, and design among other kinds of experiences that lend themselves to good communication and an ability to work well in a fast environment.
